From 300 sunny days a year to surprise spring snowstorms, discover what awaits you in the heart of the front range. Join us as we uncover the secrets of Colorado Springs weather, one forecast at a time.

Summer Weather In The Pikes Peak Region

While it may seem unconventional to begin in the middle of the year, summer is when Colorado welcomes the most visitors to its stunning landscapes, and it's when many fall head over heels for the state's charms. With mild weather and beautifully cool evenings, it's no wonder we proudly embrace our "Colorful Colorado" nickname.

June

  • June typically brings wonderfully mild weather, with daytime temperatures ranging between 60 and 75 degrees. Most of our rainfall occurs during this month, but here's a local tip: if rain is forecasted, anticipate a brief afternoon shower. Keep a raincoat and umbrella handy and consider a short indoor activity until it passes. These showers usually last around 20-30 minutes, and soon enough, the sun returns. As the saying goes, it's just enough to freshen things up and rinse away the dust before the sun reappears to dry it all off again.

July

  • July marks the peak of summer, with temperatures ranging from 70 to 95 degrees. Remember to pack shorts, swimsuits, and t-shirts, but don't forget a light jacket or sweatshirt just in case. Colorado has a knack for surprises.

August

  • August typically sees the highest temperatures of the summer, occasionally reaching 100 degrees. For those accustomed to hot and humid climates, it's worth noting that our low humidity makes even high temperatures feel more bearable. Plus, we have plenty of ways to stay cool, from exploring cool caves to enjoying refreshing mountain air and visiting air-conditioned museums. Expect temperatures to range from 75 to 95 degrees.

Fall Weather In Colorado Springs

As the temperature begins to cool, our temperate climate ensures that even a dry 40 degrees remains quite pleasant. The sun tends to shine during the day, offering a welcome warmth if you've started to feel chilly.

September

  • Anticipate daytime highs reaching the upper 60s and nighttime lows dipping into the low 40s. Snow and rain are rare, although occasional windy conditions may arise.

October

  • The early days of October closely resemble September, but as we near the end of the month, our first snowfall typically arrives. While it's often just a light dusting, temperatures begin to decline noticeably. Expect highs in the 60s and lows in the 30s, which, despite the chill, contribute to the breathtaking spectacle of trees changing color.

November

  • Daytime temperatures may still reach the mid-60s, although such highs become less common as the season progresses. Snow remains relatively scarce, and any that falls is likely to melt during the warmer daytime temperatures. Expect more frequent temperatures in the 40s and 50s.

Winter Weather In COS

While our state is renowned for its snowy landscapes, Colorado Springs doesn't receive as much snow as one might anticipate. Nevertheless, we relish in a plethora of outdoor activities throughout the year, including hiking, biking, and picnicking. Additionally, Colorado has a penchant for unpredictability; even during the chilliest months, we may be surprised with a balmy 60-degree day. This variability in weather adds to the charm of living here and is just one of the numerous reasons why so many of us adore this place!

December

  • Dreaming of a white Christmas? We're right there with you. While snow becomes increasingly probable in December, it's not exactly a commonplace occurrence. Days with temperatures in the 60s are not unheard of, but it's more likely to hover in the range of the 30s to 50s.

January

  • Winter is stepping up its game. While we still experience some days in the 50s, it's becoming more common to see temperatures ranging from the 20s to the 40s.

February

  • This month typically takes the cake for the highest number of consecutive overcast days, often coinciding with the coldest days of the year. Personally, I've experienced up to three days in a row without seeing the sun, so if you happen to visit on a cloudy day, just be patient; the sun may peek out soon. Anticipate temperatures ranging from the 20s to the 40s.

Spring Weather Around Colorado Springs And Pikes Peak Region

Here's a twist for you: winter isn't the season to pack your snow gear for Colorado Springs. It's actually springtime! This is when we typically experience the heaviest and wettest snowfalls of the year. As the saying goes around here, "April showers bring May snowstorms."

March

  • In many places, March enters with a roar and exits with a gentle breeze, but here it seems to exit as an even fiercer lion. March marks the beginning of our spring storms, yet we also begin to enjoy warmer days. Temperatures in March can fluctuate between 30 and 60 degrees.

April

  • If we've experienced a wet year thus far, brace yourself for snow in April, and it might be a substantial amount. Those jaw-dropping photos of over a foot of snow in Colorado Springs? Chances are, they're from April or May. Anticipate temperatures ranging from the 40s to the 60s.

Here's one last piece of advice to get you ready: There's no such thing as bad weather, only inappropriate clothing! And if you have any questions, don't hesitate to contact one of our qualified real estate agents who would love to educate you on our wonderful city. Happy trails!
